SIGN UP HERE

Cycle 101 at PYP is a 90 minute workshop designed to teach you how to get the most out of each and every class, and yourself. We will cover everything you need to know from the basics up through taking advanced riders to the next level. We will cover all of the following topics, as well as answer your questions!

  • Bike Set Up– We will focus on getting the bike adjusted for your body, giving you the safest, most comfortable ride, enabling you to focus on the workout. Having the wrong set up can result in accelerated fatigue, cramping, and in some cases, even joint pain. We will make sure each and every attendee leaves knowing where those adjustments should be.
  • The Evil Computer– The bike computer and the giant tv screen in our cycle studio are not there to intimidate you, but rather motivate you! We will explain how we use these systems, and how you can use them to motivate yourself!
  • Finding Your Zones– There are 3 major zones in a cycle class. Recovery, Working, and Push, which coincide with Active Recovery, Sustainable Energy, and Burst Energy. We will help you identify your zones so that you can adapt your effort level throughout a class based on the drill. Wattage can really help you determine these zones. You can measure wattage against body weight and FTP test results, and we will explain this so that you can use this information to get the most out of each class.
  • Anatomy of a Drill– The gear and RPM readings on our Keiser bikes are a guide. As most instructors range gears and RPM’s, there is always a basic overall “road map” of any class, and each drill. We will explain how to identify the key focus of the drill, as opposed to focusing on the actual gears and RPM’s. This will take away those “I can’t do those gears/rpm’s comments”. You will leave knowing your gear and your rpm ranges.
  • Explanation of the data– Watts, RPM’s, Kilocalories, Kilojoules, what? We will explain each of the data sets available to you, and how to use them to set goals, both long term, and in each class.
  • FTP (Functional Threshold Power Test)– There are many versions of this test. We will explain the test, what it means, and what to do with the numbers afterwards.
  • Q&A– Do you have questions? Hopefully at this point we have answered them all, but we will finish the workshop with an open forum in case we missed something!

So if you are a beginner, advanced, or somewhere in between, you will be able to take something great away from this workshop and start getting the most out of PYP Cycle! Only 25 spots open, so sign up today!!! Come dressed to ride and let’s do this![/vc_wp_text]
